27 Jun GS Letter June 2019
In Chinese culture, there is a term called: 甲子(Jia Zi). Jia Zi refers to the Chinese 60-year calendar cycle. It figuratively means a full lifespan and in the ancient times it is believed that one would be blessed if one can meet the second Jia Zi in life. Further reflections about this have been shared by Lai Sze Khiong, the head of Chinese Work (CW), in his latest article in Follower (fessingapore.org/chinese-work/一甲子的学生事工).
I am grateful that God birthed FES 60 years ago, sustained it till now, and granted us the chance to meet our second Jia Zi – and in His sovereign will, many more Jia Zi ahead.
“Oh Lord examine our hears, our minds, our faith, and our actions”
(Ps 26:2b, 2 Cor 13:5, Gal 6:4)
With that, I would like to cordially invite you to FES’ 60thAnniversary Celebration (see poster for details).
Join us this night as we examine our ministry across 60 years. Come, listen to, and share stories, which will bear witness to the faithfulness of God and the fruitfulness of His ministry.
Join us this night to also experience a dinner across the decades. Come, remember, and reminisce over food representing the 1950s to today.
Whether you are able to join us or not, please share a story (max. 150 words) of one of your treasured memories of CF. We wish to set up a story gallery to inspire the generations to come.
Register now or share your story:
This 60thAnniversary Dinner will be held together with GCF’s Annual Thanksgiving Dinner as well as the CW Big Family Gathering (华文组大家庭聚会). I pray that this event will bring back many blessed memories of our own, and also cultivate a fresh and closer ministry partnership between students, graduates, and the different ministry sections in FES. I hope to see more concerted and synergised efforts and initiatives to reach out and serve students and graduates of this generation across languages and nationalities.
Looking forward to seeing you on the 60thAnniversary Dinner and to an edifying fellowship there.
In His grace,
FES General Secretary
